A Welcome Message
in two years, to update industry players on the latest development in the market as well as to foster closer relationship amongst all those involved in the industry. The 4th IRGCE in 2008, which attracted participants and exhibitors both locally and overseas, was a resounding success. Encouraged by this, the Management Committee of the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers' Association (MARGMA) is glad to bring you the 5th International Rubber Glove Conference and Exihibition in 2010.
The theme of the 5th IRGCE: "Gloves - The Frontline of Barrier Protection" aptly reflects the importance of gloves for barrier protection. With the scourge of Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in the '90s, the emergence of new diseases such as the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and bird flu outbreaks in recent years and the most recent Influenza A (H1N1), medical gloves have become an indispensable neccessity in the healthcare environment. Other than the surgical gloves used in operating theatres and examination gloves for medical consultation, industrial gloves used in the workplace have also seen new development, protecting users from a range of hazzards encountered in various workplaces, including chemicals, solvents and even electric shock. These include cut-resistant gloves, reinforced gloves in the automotive industry, hygiene gloves in the food industry, cleanroom gloves in the electronic industry and electrician gloves. These gloves are used for one purpose, i.e. for barrier protection, which is the theme of the Conference. The importance of gloves cannot be quantified.
The forthcoming 5th IRGCE will highlight updates on the latest process innovation in the glove industry and aims to bring updates on regulations and standards, besides looking at the issues of competitiveness in the industry.
We are happy to announce that Dr. Anne Lucas from the US Food and Drug Administrations (FDA) will be a Primary Speaker at the Conference, presenting "The FDA's Current Perspective on the Regulations, Standards and Guidances for NRL in Medical Devices". From Australia, Dr. John Gerofs of ENERSOL, will present a paper on "Requirements for Examination Gloves to Meet PPE Directives". Professor Tharwat Tadros from UK will talk on "The science and Applications of Surjactant". Together with other papers on "Innovations", "Regulations & Standards" and "Competitiveness", highligthing latest developments in the medical devices industry, these inputs will indeed make this year's Conference and Exhibition relevant, imperative and rewarding.
As for the Exhibition, the response this year is overwhelming. All the 88 booths have been booked. Most of the major glove manufacturers in Malaysia will be exhibiting their products. Suppliers of raw materials, chemicals, machineries, etc, both local and overseas, are also among the exhibitors.
The 5th IRGCE is co-organized by the Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC), in association with the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB), the Thai Rubber Glove Manufacturers' Association (TRGMA). The event is also endorsed and supported by relevant Ministries and Government agencies.

| ABOUT THE ORGANIZER |
Establisted in 1989, the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers' Association (MARGMA) represents rubber glove manufacturers and supporting industries associated with the rubber glove manufacturing industry in Malaysia. As a trade association, MARGMA is currently the voice for the rubber glove industry in Malaysia represeting 80% of the glove manufacturers and 85% of the glove production capacity nationally.
As a founder member of the ASEAN Rubber Glove Manufacturers' Association (ARGMA), MARGMA provides the secretariat service for the regional grouping.
| THE CONFERENCE |
Leading R&D personnel, standards and regulatory experts, industry analysts and market players will present relevant technical/professional papers on the dynamic glove industry.
About 700 participants and delegates are expected at this ebent, which will create an opportunity for all players and stake-holders in the glove industry to interact and to foster closer rapport.

The Exhibition will showcase the latest products and services in three categories: (1) Glove manufacturing industry,
(2) Supporting and services industries in the glove industry, and
(3) Disposable medical devices industry.
88 exhibition booths (standard shell scheme, 3m x 3m) are available for booking by a host of manufacturers and suppliers - gloves, medical devices, chemicals, machinery and equipment, raw materials, packaging materials, service providers and publications, to promote and publicize their goods and/or services.
The Exhibition is open to all conference participants, manufacturers, trade visitors, the media and interested members of the public.

Working/Technical Papers will span the following subject categories:
(1) REGULATIONS & STANDARDS
Papers on test method developments, standards and specifications, quality control and surveillance regulations on protective gloves imposed by importing contries are welcome. Leading personnel from international and national standards and regulatory bodies in USA, Japan, China and Malaysia are invited to give their technical and professional input.
(2) INNOVATIONS
Improvement in processing technologies, developments of new chemicals, new latices, innovated medical devices, product innovation, novel applications of latex, nano science and technology and their applications. These developments and trends, in response to new advances and findings will enhance the manufacture and use of gloves.
(3) COMPETITIVENESS
In the face of rising costs and global competition, there is a need to improve productivity and increase competitiveness. Papers touching on specific topics such as enhancement in competitiveness and productivity, branding, lean manufacturing, market intelligence, market trend and market promotion are welcome.
